This one is a little different from what we normally do, and what we've been doing during September. We haven't met Pop's Bar owners Tom or Spike, nor do we know bartender Charlie yet. But a mutual friend connected us and we couldn't pass up the chance to hear some history of the Mission drinking hole and also their experiences during the pandemic.

Spike (who also owns Madrone Art Bar) and Tom detail the history of Pop's. Then the two shift to discussing how they've managed the bar during quarantine. They end the episode discussing what they feel are inequities and other wrongs in how governments are responding when it comes to small businesses.

Pop's Bar is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between 4 and 8 p.m. for social-distanced drinks and food. You can also support them by purchasing gift cards or donating to their Go Fund Me. Find more information at their website.

We recorded this special episode at Pop's Bar in September 2020.
